File A Police Report for Fraud Since AMZN Won't Do Anything?
We sold a high dollar item that shipped via LTL freight who, just like Amazon does, takes photos of the item on the front porch of address where it was dropped. While this is good enough for AMZN it is not good enough for its sellers…!??
- We received an A-Z claim for this item stating it wasn’t received specifically stating “we should have required a signature”. They are clearly gaming the system and committing fraud. My question is around it being worth filing a police report locally when we have all of the proof it was delivered? We have photos of the item in front of the house and have matched the house to the photos via Google Earth. Apparently this is not good enough for Amazon? Unbelievable that fraud like this is acceptable and almost encouraged.
Thoughts about filing a police report against the buyer to try and get resolution since Amazon will not make right. Once they’re visited by the police they hopefully won’t do this to anyone else.

Hello @Seller_gUiz6Zqf7islU- thank you for taking the time to share this situation here on the seller forums.
As this is a public forum, our Community Guidelines do not allow for the sharing of personal information, such as the addresses of customers, even if complications occur with an order. For this reason I've had to remove the final image you included. Moving forward, please do help ensure any posts do not contain personally identifiable information.
It is true that Amazon recommends obtaining a signature upon delivery and using the protections offered by Amazon Buy Shipping to help protect against 'Item Not Received' claims. Further, please see this page on Appealing A-to-z Claims for the pathway to attach documentation, like Proof of Delivery, for investigator review.
That said, I would be happy to take a closer look into the A-to-z decision at the heart of this concern. Please do share the Order ID involved as you get the chance. It is of course your prerogative to file a police report at any time.
Thank you,
Danny

Yes Sir, it worked for us. Someone was trying to take a $3500 order. The second they got a call from detective it was resolved that same afternoon. The fraudster called amazon to have payment reversed. It was awesome. Protect yourself and don't expect amazon to support you in fraud cases, unfortunately.

A similar thing happened to me. A customer ordered a $4,000 juicer and received it in perfect condition. Amazon gave them a full refund without requiring them to return the product.

I can only say this - DO IT!
Thanks to Amazon continuous lessons how to scam their own system (I have many proofs about when item is being delivered with official tracking but due to glitch Amazon system sends encouraging emails to open claim for possibly lost package), all these every-day fraudsters got out of hand.
Unfortunately for you, YES, you really needed to get signature option. I always order signature even if items costs $300.
But speaking about police reports - I have used this and it really worked for me. Maybe soon Amazon will start notice that buyers won't be so satisfied with this marketplace because they will pursued by officers.
But whats even more funny that lately there has been numerous cases when buyer reports INR and then after our email which says "item is left there and there, here is photo, in case of theft we will report to police..." they miraculously disappear. No claim, no response back. One even replied back that "we shouldn't bother, it's not a big loss, don't need to call police, thanks".... UNBELIEVABLE.

yes. Scumbags playing games and using Amazon and USPS to scam sellers every day. I'm dealing with another one today

For something that valuable, I might suggest geo tagging it if possible.
It doesn't apply here but for smaller items, we use USPS. Mail fraud is a Federal crime that will be investigated.

Signature is a little extra cost for high value item but prevents MANY headaches for INR.

File a police report.
If Amazon refunded them name Amazon as an accomplice to the theft.
