Price discounts for brand new product

We just launched a new product (no sold units so far) and want to run a price discount/strikethrough to attract customers.

However, when we set up the price discount in the Price discounts tool, it doesn't show the percentage off/strikethrough, it just shows the sale price as it is (for example, we set a 20% off on a $100 product, we want to have the strikethrough 20% off in front of the price, but it just shows $80, no strikethrough)

What should we do in this case?

Amazon follows the law in this matter. Federal Trade Commission has rules about this and you may not advertise something as having been reduced from price $X unless it has been sold for a certain amount of time at that price.

Do you really understand what is going on here?

1. Where did you place the 20% off?

- Are you buying an advertising scheme?

- Did you place the product on sale with the sale price of $80.00? This shows with a strike thru.

One of the above costs money and one costs you nothing.

2. Have you test sold your product using FBM for a month. that way you know the salability of the product and how much profit you will be to derive for yourself. This gives you the base line to which all other decisions can be made about discounts and any advertising purchase.

3. Remember, all paid advertising is deducted by Amazon from your UNEARNED PROFITS whether or not the product sells or not. Do you have surplus profit cash sitting around to create an advertising budget. If not, you pay for pay for the advertising so make sure you up your price accordingly to cover the cost.

4. An effective short-to-the-point title is necessary to have a potential buyer find your product. Is your product easy to find? Can you actually find your product quickly when searching for it like a potential buyer using the Amazon Browse? If not, you have a problem.

What good is discounting a product price, upping the price to show a discount, or getting reviews by using the Vine Program, if no one can find your product to buy.

5. As you can see, there are many more factors involved than worrying about a strike through on a price. Those mentioned above are just the tip of the iceberg to have successful sales on the Amazon site

It's really not as easy as just posting a strike through a price...... You need to STOP and start watching the Amazon University Videos. They are FREE and in place for a reason.
