Applying Expiration Dates and Lot Numbers to Outside Packaging for Supplements

I have a capsule supplement packaged in a typical white vitamin bottle. Before sending me all of my products, the manufacturer applies the lot number and expiration date to the label of each bottle. Upon receipt, I will place each bottle into a larger container that will also contain additional info, marketing materials, etc.

After reading the excerpt below from the Amazon Seller Help site, I have a question about what is allowed regarding adding the additional label with the expiration and lot number to the outside packaging.

Prepping expiration-dated products

Expiration-dated products must be fully enclosed and sealed in packaging that is suitable for shipping. Expiration-dated products that require additional preparation, such as poly-bagging or bubble wrap, must have labels with expiration dates applied to the outside of the product prep or packaging. This is to ensure that the expiration date is accessible to Amazon associates during the check-in process.

Can I generate a sticker with the same expiration date and lot number as the bottle and apply it to the bottom of the outer packaging? Or can I use a stamp? I don't see any specific language or rules around the "how," just that it needs to be done.

Any additional clarification on this would be great!

Hi @Seller_Rj5sPkRz5jkm5,

Thanks for reaching out. You can add an extra label to the outside of your package, just ensure that you do not cover up any barcodes needed to receive your inventory. Ensure that you use the required format listed in this help page. I would also recommend that you review this help page around product inserts to ensure that you are in policy. I would also ensure that if you have anything around feedback, you ensure that you do not ask for positive feedback. You need to request unbiased feedback and that has to be clearly stated on any contact with your customer.

I hope this information is helpful.

Regards,

Michelle
