ISBN not recognize in GS1 database
I authored a book that I want to sell on Amazon. Amazon states that because it is a book I need an ISBN from GS1. I talked to GS1 and they confirmed they no longer sell ISBNs as they relinquished that to Bowker which is the only company to buy an ISBN from in the US. I have an ISBN through Bowker but when I enter it I get the 8572 error code saying Amazon can't validate the code. When I talk to Amazon Customer support, they tell me I need to buy the ISBN through GS1 so that when they search the GS1 database it will match. But it's impossible to buy an ISBN through GS1. What do I do?!

I'm also running into the same issue. I've been trying to add a book for sale on Amazon for 2 weeks with no luck so far. My ISBN is from Bowker

In general Amazon uses GS1 to verify the authenticity of UPCs per the Valid UPCs Policy but I will need to review further to investigate the issues with your ISBNs. Please provide your most recent Seller Support Case that includes your ISBNs and this issue and I will see what additional context I can provide.
