Faulty Shipping Charge Adjustments - Amazon needs to provide a portal for dispute or provide a Carrier Invoice so the seller can dispute directly with Carrier

I know several of you have had problems with incorrect shipping adjustments over the years.

I was doing my taxes and dug into it and I paid over $7K last year in Faulty shipping adjustments. In once case I was charges $661 by Fedex to ship something that they normally charge $29.50. I ship thousands of these each year and they always cost $29.50, but for some reason Fedex randomly charges me several hundred to ship.

I have similar problems with UPS and occasionally USPS.

The root of the problem is the automated systems that the carriers use to audit our packages. They use a laser to detect your label and measure dimensions and a scale on the conveyor measures weight. There are two major problems with this.

1. The first problem is that if your package is touching another package and only your label is showing. The system will think both packages are one big package and calculate a much larger size and weight., The system sometimes cannot distinguish that there are two separate shipments.

2. The next problem is with calibrations. These systems need to be constantly calibrate due to wear, debris, damage, and degradation. Often these systems are not calibrated on a regular basis and this can cause serious misreading.

I am a mechanical engineer and I have worked in factory automation for over 20 years. I automation equipment go out of tolerance on a constant basis.

Amazon seller need an avenue to dispute these charges. Either a portal need to be developed or Amazon needs to supply sellers with the carrier's invoice number so we can dispute on our own.

AMAZON, PLEASE HELP US. THIS IS KILLING SMALL BUSINESS THAT SUPPORT YOU ON A DAILY BASIS!!!!!!

Thank you for that suggestion regarding carrier adjustments @Seller_wRVlnSlZtcQwe. I have shared this and similar feedback with our partner teams, and they are working to improve the process for sellers to dispute adjustments.

If sellers wish to dispute carrier adjustments, the best method is to submit individual disputes for each order/adjustment to Amazon Seller Support, including photos or other information supporting the original label information.

Amazon will do nothing to fix the problem. FedEx has been crushing all of our shipments. We even shipped packages exactly like Amazon and FedEx said and still they ALL got "Adjustments". We no longer ship anything FedEx.

We are alsopaying adjustment charge on each shipment we ship from buy shipping from amazon for Fedex.

Tired of Amazon nonsense.

If same package i book somewhere else there will be no additional adjustment charge. It's only in amazon. Amazon tell you that this is shipping adjustment charge. But amazon really pay it to Fedex or other carrier or keep it in own pocket??? And looting us intentionally???

its called sludge. Create obstacles so you eventually give up. There needs some type of portal where you can easily dispute these. Carriers should supply the proof of their audited weight and dimensions.

idea comes to mind... Amazon's lawyers could start a class-action lawsuit against FedEx, on behalf of Amazon AND all 3p sellers. The mere act of STARTING and submitting the lawsuit is possibly good enough for FedEx to realize their "mistake" (intentional act) of overcharging and fix the problem. If not, the court case would result in lots of attention, leading to more businesses, including ones with no connection to Amazon, digging through records to dispute the fraudulent overcharges. Amazon likes to say we are all "partners"... so how about Amazon lawyers help us out?

and, yes, Amazon should require proof of shipping adjustments from the shipping companies before passing along the adjustments
