Legal Entity - amazon holding money and are not helping

I have been selling on amazon for over a year. They have randomly stopped making payments to my account even though my buyers have received their orders. I have spoken to 25 different amazon representatives on the phone and have sent over 15 plus emails in the past two months. I have opened cases also.

All the employees keep telling me different reasons why my payments to my account are restricted but the most common one is my legal entity. They said I need to change it from Individual to UK Sole Trader (or something along those lines). They told me there is no contact number for the verification team and to email them. 15 times - always a automated response but never a reply.

All I want to do is change my legal entity and I am being told they have to enable it for me to do as it doesnt show on my account. I spoke to someone today who said if they dont reply then its simple I wont receive my money?!??!?!?

Please someone help as this has massively stressed me out as they never seem to know what they are talking about.

Thank you Lisa

If you did register as an individual but are in fact selling as a business, then you'd first need to contact HMRC to get your UTR number.

Then you can ask support to open the legal entity section of your account so you can make the change. Amazon may well ask you to provide confirmation from HMRC of your UTR, so you'd need that physically to hand before making any change.

Absolutely as above. If you are selling items for profit then you MUST, by law, be registered with HMRC as self-employed, sole- trader. It can be done online.

They will send you your UTR, and then you will need to open a case with seller Support and ask them to open up the option in your account info to add your UTR. Your sole-trader account should be in your own name. It is a BUSINESS seller account you need on Amazon - Individual seller account is ONLY for selling off your own personal second-hand items such as books DVDs, CDs etc.

Once you have that all sorted, then hopefully you should get your payments.

Hello @Seller_469wY9m5rDCFQ,

what @Seller_QuM1AZgzfU9x4and @Seller_ZVAz3d5lZuGid shared is correct.

Have you received communications with guidance about the documents required and how to submit them?
