Policy violation on search term

We used a commonly used abbreviation for a brand name in our list of keyword searches. Think "HP" in place of Hewlett Packard, "Coke" in place of Coca-cola, "Mercedes" in place of Mercedes Benz etc. Amazon cited us for a policy violation - misuse of a brand name. We're being told that the only way to resolve this violation is at https://sellercentral.amazon.com/performance/account/health/policy-warnings. That page begins with a place where we must agree that we violated Amazon policies: " I have reviewed the original notification and I understand my listings violating [SIC] Amazon's policies." Then I need to explain in detail the corrective actions I have taken to comply with Amazon policy.

I'm just not sure what to do with all this. Seems like I'm being forced to admit a crime I did not commit. Has anybody else run into this?

The question I have is if this was a related to a received or suspected violation? If this is associated to a received intellectual property complaint, this is the brand or rights owner advising there's a misuse of their intellectual properties which will require valid invoices and possibly a letter of authorization to show proof of compliance or that you are an authorized distributor approved to use their intellectual properties.

If this is a suspected violation, some situations will allow the update to the listing to ensure it is compliance with these policies. I would recommend reviewing our intellectual property policy for sellers. This includes next steps for the different types of intellectual property violations.

Based on the request for corrective actions, it's likely to be a suspected violation, can you provide the ASIN related to the violation? If there are more than one ASIN, you are welcome to provide them all here as well.

If you cannot provide the required documentation if needed, taking the acknowledgment path would be the only path to remove the violation. If taken be aware this will permanently deactivate the listing, you will never be able to list or sell this product in the future, and any inventory in the fulfillment center will need to be disposed of as they would not qualify for removal.

The forums community and I are here to support you. Please let us know how we can help you from this point forward.
