Changing Amazon provided SKU/Merge skus
Hi guys,
I am a Brand Registered owner with a seller fulfilled product that has an Amazon provided sku. When I try to Edit the listing to change the sku, that line item is locked and cannot be changed. I then created a new condition with the correct sku. This new item however won't let me edit the listing at all besides the offer section.
I'd like to delete the old listing with incorrect sku but that is the one with all of the product description. I'm not sure if I deleted that, would the description just jump over to the new condition I created?
Also have an option to merge my new condition item/sku with the old listing; would that remove the amazon provided sku or would it keep it?
Let me know if you guys can help.
Thanks
-Erik

What you are seeing is how Amazon works. The SKU should be assigned by the seller, so the products can be tracked to your liking. If a seller fails to assign a SKU, Amazon creates one with absolutely no logical way of sorting products.
To change your SKU, the products listing must be deleted, and a new listing created. It should not be a problem if you sell FBM. We do it 10 times a day. The product listing page with all the contents, stays in the catalog. It will be there under the same ASIN, which is actually Amazon's SKU for the product.

Hello @Seller_xSscfHVXLttou- and welcome to the seller forums! I am glad to see @Seller_CW0P5hgbsiqWX is here on your first post to offer some guidance.
I will second the guidance on deleting then re-listing, here's a helpful guide on how and why this can be needed, but if you run into further problems as you make this change, don't hesitate to open a case with support and let me know that case ID so I can take a look with the specifics along with you!
