Safe-t Claim denied, small empty envelope returned

Customer ordered two large items worth $100 each and started a return authorization. What we received back was a 4 by 6 inch pouch with nothing inside. Not even the paperwork. They just slapped a label on a tiny pouch and sent that back with UPS and received a full refund.. So, we were out the product cost, outgoing shipping costs, and the higher UPS return costs for a small bag of air.

We started a SAFE-T Claim and was denied see below....

We have denied your refund request for the order 111-0161975-1775427.

Reason:

The issue that you reported is not covered by the SAFE-T policy.

We appealed and then received this answer

We have reviewed the information that you provided and we have denied your appeal for the order 111-0161975-1775427.

We understand that you may not agree, however, we stand by our decision.

The package was OTDR and Claims protected and shipped with Amazon postage. (1) Has anyone else had any luck recouping their lost funds and how did you do it? (2) Can a mod please log in and help replace the funds back in our account for something this blatant and obvious?

We just had the same exact situation. The customer return reason was "Wrong item was sent" with comment "This is not what I ordered". We sent the buyer a message asking for more information but of course received no response.

order id 111-9603196-4445827 and SAFE-T claim ID 15396-67567-9065736

The claim was denied with the same reason, The issue that you reported is not covered by the SAFE-T policy. I appealed the decision, the appeal has not been answered yet.

On many occasions we have received wrong items returned. Sometimes I think it is a scam, most of the time it is a clueless customer not properly matching the correct item to the return label. In each of these cases the Safe-T-Claim is approved so I was surprised it was denied this time, especially so quickly.

We have experienced this scenario multiple times on another platform (*Bay) where the return reason is nonsense and a supposed picture (but not real) of the defective item is provided. When the "return" arrives it is a small flat envelope containing only a note or a postcard indicating the item is delayed but should arrive shortly. In each case so far *Bay has covered us denied the customer refund.
