I’m reaching out to the community for advice after encountering a frustrating situation with a competitor engaging in unethical practices. Despite providing Amazon with extensive evidence, they have declined to take action, claiming that the evidence is insufficient.
The Issue
A competitor has been intentionally sabotaging our business by:
Posting fake reviews: An employee of this competitor purchased our product, left a false negative review, and then returned the product.
Damaging our reputation: The review included fabricated claims to undermine the quality and compliance of our product.
Evidence Submitted to Amazon
Here’s what I provided to Amazon:
Competitor Information: Detailed information linking the reviewer to the competitor’s company.
Order and Review Records: Proof that the reviewer was connected to the competitor and acted maliciously.
Employment Details: Documentation confirming the reviewer’s role within the competitor’s organization.
Purchase and Return Evidence: Records that clearly show the pattern of malicious intent.
Amazon's Response
Despite this level of detail, Amazon’s response was that they cannot take action due to “insufficient evidence.” This has been incredibly disheartening, as I have gone to great lengths to provide a clear and comprehensive case.
My Concerns
It feels like Amazon is placing an unreasonable burden on sellers to act as investigators. If this level of evidence isn’t enough, what more can I do to protect my business?
