Sellers share their tips to boost seasonal sales
We recently asked sellers to share what they wished they knew in their first spring season.
Hundreds of you replied on our Forums Spring Sweepstakes discussion with insights that can help you set your business up for success in the coming summer months and ahead of upcoming seasonal sales.
Here are some of the responses:
- "Seasonality can sneak up on you fast! I underestimated how quickly demand spikes for seasonal items like gardening tools, outdoor gear, and spring cleaning products. If I could go back, I'd plan inventory much earlier"
- "Seasonal keywords drive serious visibility. Just adding "spring" or "Mother's Day" gave my listings a boost."
- "Inventory vanishes. I ran out of stock my first spring. Twice. Now I prep in January like it's go-time."
- "I keep a cushion of extra inventory ready for my FBM sales - it's been a total game-changer for my peace of mind! I've noticed that some months (especially June) can surprise you with unexpected sales spikes. Having those extra units on hand means I never have to stress about stockouts or disappointing customers."
- "Content wins. One customer photo with a bucket full of crabs in the sunset? That one image boosted sales more than any ad spend. Get your buyers involved early—they're your best marketing team."

The new High Days of Supply error is rubbish and prevents sellers from having the appropriate stock at FBA as it does not factor in seasonality or historical sales. The policy is immensely flawed.

We're #1 in a couple highly seasonal categories and they kinda suck man.
- No sales no sales no sales then boom, you sell out overnight. Amazons algo takes a few days so you aren't allowed to restock because "you already have high days of supply".
- Then you do restock and all is good until the end of the season when your NCX rate spikes to 70% because you went from 500 units/day to 3 and the season's over so people don't need the item anymore.
- NCX rate is high so amazon pull your listing and you have to grovel to AHS to get it back.
- Rinse and repeat for next year.
If you are going to do it remember that Amazon can randomly delay inbound shipments by two months and December is a dead zone, so if you're selling winter items in north America you better have inventory at FBA by November first and then hope it gets cold before you get smacked with LTS.
