In my opinion, I do not use either.
Its a lot harder to not use these applications but you are forced to learn a lot more about the Amazon catalog and you do not have to rely on any third party apps to do it.
I do, however, use "Keepa". I can connect it to google chrome easily and I can see the sales history of an ASIN on the detail page(which lots of programs do this but my chosen program is Keepa).
