Image Quality change?

We have always edited our images using Pixelmator, over 1000px on each side and saved as JPG. Im no image editing expert but they usually look pretty decent. Recently I've noticed that upon uploading images to a new listing the quality has gone shocking and looks a lot more washed out and grainy than the saved image on my computer... am I doing something wrong?

There's been a definite change. I noticed a little while ago. The bots have been compressing images. Guess it's for the benefit of mobile users; the images will load/display quicker and on a smaller screen, you're less likely to notice the quality difference.
