Hazmat Review “Unable to Classify” – SDS Submitted but No Progress
Hi everyone,
We’ve been facing an ongoing issue with the hazmat classification process for several of our ASINs. We submitted a fully GHS-compliant Safety Data Sheet (SDS) and Battery Exemption Sheet multiple times via the Dangerous Goods Document Center and through support cases.
However, the ASIN still shows “Unable to classify,” even after:
- Re-uploading updated SDS (brand and product model match listing title)
- Opening multiple support cases . (recent case id is: 17982585131)
- Receiving confirmation that files were received and passed to internal team but with no resolution
We suspect the ASIN is stuck in a system loop or the previous failed submissions are blocking new file reviews. We’ve also asked Seller Support to escalate to the Hazmat Manual Review Team, but still haven’t received a final resolution.
Is there any way to directly reach the Dangerous Goods team or request a manual override to refresh the classification status?
Any suggestions from the community or moderators would be appreciated!

Good Morning @Seller_YLvDvMU8iCvnu,
I wanted to stop by to let you know I have reached out to the partner team on CASE ID 17982585131 to see if they can provide us with an update on the classification status of your ASIN as it seems you have had quite a bit of back and forth with them. I am hoping to get you a solid answer within the next few business days. Until then, have a wonderful rest of your week.
Sincerely, Cooper_Amazon

Good Afternoon @Seller_YLvDvMU8iCvnu,
I wanted to reach out to you as I see you have been working with a few partner teams on trying to classify your ASIN. According CASE ID ending in 1461, there was an agent that walked you through submitting documentation for ASIN ending in HP9K. On my end I see that the ASIN is currently classified as Hazmat.
If that is incorrect from what you heard, please let me know and I can re-escalate to the Dangerous Goods team to gather more information. I look forward to hearing back from you soon.
Sincerely, Cooper_Amazon

Good Morning @Seller_YLvDvMU8iCvnu,
I wanted to follow up with you as ASIN ending HP9K is confirmed as classified as of July 16th, 2025. I do see that the ASIN is now blocked for another reason being:
"This product has been identified as a battery for a micromobility device that does not have the required UL2271 certifications."
For more information on the certification requirements, I am linking this help page -->HERE<--
If you have another ASIN dealing with classification issues, would it be possible for you to begin a 'New Discussion' on the forums and share the applicable CASE IDs and details about the issue so one of our Community Managers can look into that one for you?
Please let me know if you have any additional follow up questions about the outcome of the original escalation for ASIN ending HP9K.
Have a great rest of your day!
Sincerely, Cooper_Amazon
