Review Fraud - we finally caught one and have proof!
We've all known for years that review fraud is rampant here. We get those weird reviews that don't even make any sense, or are clearly lies. Usually there is nothing you can do other than just try to bury it with good reviews over time.
Today we were going through our catalog and saw that one of our good sellers hadn't sold much in months, and realized it had a 2 star review. Curious, I looked at the review and knew it had to be fake. Looked at the person reviewing and low and behold they also reviewed other sellers competing products the same day they reviewed ours. How curious! A quick google search showed that they own a business that makes and sells the same health and beauty products! I finally caught one! They weren't smart enough to use a different name!
Now it's just up to Amazon to fix our product, and the other competitors that got hit by her and hopefully stop her from doing it again.

Amazon is a self service platform. You must report the review.

Report it, as of October 2024 this review violates US law.

It is very simple to report this via "report abuse" through seller central. Have screenshots of everything and the link to the competitors storefront. We once had a competitor buy all of our stock of something to lock up funds - immediately reported and the order was cancelled and not sure if the seller was warned. They still have an active account on amazon but I can guarantee you they will never do it again

Has anyone ever seen any effect to clicking the button to report a fake review?

And of course....Amazon did not do it's job. Case 17036263491 if a mod ever finds this and actually wants to help. But it appears from their answer that instead of using basic reading comprehension skills they looked at the ASIN as if we did the violation, instead of the competitor: "Thank you for your report of a suspected policy violation. We cannot take action on the report based on the information you provided as no violation has been identified on the reported ASINs."

Hello @Seller_oDXVaydIpi3Hi- and thanks for posting.
I can confirm that using designated pathways like reporting the review as abusive, reporting the reviewer's profile, and sending robust details to community-help@amazon.com all help Amazon build a case to combat such activity. Its important to note that the team behind that alias may not respond to all submissions, but all submissions will be reviewed.
Thank you for also posting your case ID in the comments here. I've surfaced it internally to request the assistance of our escalation team. While they may not provide you or I with the outcomes of their findings, if I do receive any response, I'll be sure to provide an update here on the thread.
Thanks again,
Danny
