Losing buy box when i am only seller, no option but to reduce price
I have a product of which we are the only seller, and always have been.
recently i noticed sales had ground to a halt, upon checking it apppears we had lost the buy box, so customers could still purchase the item but had to engage in multiple clicks to do so, so sales dropped off.
The only way i can seem to get the buy box back is to decrease the price, so much so that we are now selling at £40 less than i need to (it's quite an expensive item).
Does anyone know a way around this, every time i try and increase the price slightly it will work for a few weeks than randomly we'll lose the buy box again, it's infuriating

Unfortunately only Amazon really knows the exact answer as to why sellers do not get the buy box despite being the only seller.
According to their guides, then you must make sure that your account is in good health, no late dispatches/negative feedback etc. Eligibility for the buy box is then still not guaranteed.
I know now ideal, but have you tried sending some product into Amazon FBA? I know from my experience that you seem to get the buy box this way or have a greater chance.

Potentially they have linked the product to a non amazon sales channel where it is available cheaper and therefore not competitive (in AMazon's eyes at least)

Somebody out there must be selling the product at a cheaper price so this brings the competitive price down. What product is it?

Yup theyve done the same to me, basically they dont take the postage price into account and expect you to lose out on the postage cost. I cant/wont drop my RRP, Amazon doesnt get to choose my RRP.. so im just waiting it out. Id made a mistake when i first did postage on it and offered free.....now i added the postage cost, Amazon says no youre charging too much per unit, item+postage cannot be more than item cost (ie insisting i can only offer free postage now forever, unit price is same as before). Amusingly it still states im the lowest price ...... but no buy box because im not 'the lowest price' I assume bots search it fairly regularly, sooner or later (im hoping 30 days) after not finding any other cheaper offer ill get the buy box back *shrug*. Im wondering how this works when stock/wholesale prices go up over time.. does Amazon forbid any retail price increases or postage costs then too? Do they do this if have you have a sale or special offer and then claim the offer price is the new RRP?? From what I can see the bots base it on the price an item sold at in the last 30 days. I sold one unit with the free postage LOL.. so hopefully I just wait until that transaction is 30 days old and that will sort it.
