Shipping defect-box oversized
I've been sending standard-sized items to Amazon for fulfillment in a 19.7 x 19.7 x 17.7 inch shipping box for years. Suddenly, I was hit by a shipping defect for using an oversized box. I'm confused about how they are measuring the boxes. I disputed the decision, but it was denied. I don't want to lose faith in seller support completely because there are still some helpful and knowledgeable individuals. However, the seller support who assisted me in this case just copied their responses from the help page. I wanted more information on how they arrived at the 30.2 inches height of the box. Providing accurate information helps sellers learn.

I’m curious how your boxes previously qualified as standard size, given the criteria for an item to be considered in this category are as follows:
- The weight must be 20 lbs (9 kg) or less.
- The item’s dimensions must fit within:
a) Longest side: no more than 18 inches.
b) Median side: no more than 14 inches.
c) Shortest side: no more than 8 inches.
If the product surpasses these weight or size limits, it is categorized as oversize, which involves different fees and handling procedures.

We have had a few problems with exactly this issue in the past few months and especially the past few days. Somehow, the machine that measures the boxes at Amazon is showing incorrect sizes in some cases. We recently had a 14 x 10 x 7 box produce a shipping defect as "oversize", stating that the box was 29" on one side. We disputed the defect and it was initially rejected. We kept insisting (through the case) and we kept receiving useless scripted responses.
Something similar happened with 2 other boxes from other shipments. In a couple cases, the shipments had several boxes of the exact same size, but only one of the boxes was tagged as oversize.
Luckily, today the defects disappeared. However, the defect history is still in the defect "chart".

Hi @Seller_NVEmZUDNzCYRS,
Thank you for reaching out on the Seller Forums! I'm just coming across this thread and wanted to provide additional information on FBA shipment sizes.
As mentioned in the replies here, shipments are considered standard-size if they are 18 inches (or less) on their longest side. More information and guidelines on this policy can be found in the following pages:
That said, if you believe that your shipment's total measurement is incorrectly inputted, please send me your case IDs and I'd be happy to look into this further for you!
Thanks again,
Jameson
