Took over a business want a fresh start, concerns with opening a new seller account......
Hi all, I took over a wholesaling business about a year or so ago and we also do ecommerce out of it with a separate LLC. It's not the business I am writing from I have two other ecommerce businesses, I'm just writing from here because I'm on this account the most.
Unfortunately the original Amazon account for this new business is a mess, the old owners were new to ecommerce and just didn't know what they were doing. I tried fixing everything and while it doesn't have the worst ratings it's definitely not up to par with my other accounts although that isn't the worst of the issue and isn't what is making me consider a fresh start, if anything I would rather have some feedback even if it's not the best rather than start fresh with none. The largest issue is the shipping, we buy shipping from Amazon whenever possible just to take advantage of the protections and for some reason this account doesn't have any shipping options, the only options are ground shipping so I can't even offer expedited shipping options and use Amazon for it. I've tried everything possible to fix it and Amazon themselves cannot determine why it's a problem, I've had an escalated ticket open for it for months and it's not the first time I have done so. Even mods here on this forum have looked into it and could not determine what the issue is, ultimately directing me to just go back to seller support. What I'm thinking happened is that the original guys did something to get banned from any air shipping methods, maybe shipping dangerous goods improperly or something of that nature.....I have no way of knowing for sure what happened but that's my guess.
Anyway, I'm thinking it's just time for a new start. The ecommerce business is separate LLC from the wholesaling business anyway, I would open a new LLC, new phone number, new email, get a box for the address which I do already to keep it separate and new bank account. No problem, all that is easy and according to Amazon policy.
My hang-up is the products we will be selling, it's going to be the same products and from my understanding in order to have a need for a new account it needs to be selling different products. This won't be the case it's going to be the exact same products, although the old account obviously won't be selling them anymore we're going to close that account.
Is this an issue? Can anyone provide any insight on this?

That is unusual. It's a basic issue, but I will ask it anyway: Have you tried creating new shipping templates and then reassigning the ASINs to it?
I would also check the locations associated with this account and delete or change them if you haven't done so already.
Also: if you are going to be selling the ASINs from another account, why do you need to keep the one you just bought from another seller? Is it associated with a brand? If not, why not just shut it down completely so you don't get tripped up by the multiple accounts rule?

I am new to this but from what I've been told is that you cannot have more than 1 seller account per lifetime and if you have "ACCESS" or have even logged in from any other seller account regardless of it being a good or bad account the accounts will be linked. You can run multi business names for each product on 1 seller account but still only 1 seller account per LIFETIME. If I am incorrect someone please correct me....

File a ticket first, tell them what you are going to do, open the new amazon account with exactly as you said, all new info, and if approved you can sell the other products.
If this stuff is your brand now, register all the brands, amazon does not want to ban you, they want you to sell here but you need to do it their way.
Their way is very simple
You stock everything you sell
You ship everyday
You accept returns, and are nice to customers
You sell genuine products ( Preferably your own brand )
One person on this thread posted you can only have 1 seller account, this is false, each business can have a seperate account as long as they sell different products.

go in to your shipping settings and change them
