TRANSPARENCY CODE FOR KNOWN BRANDS
hi.
I am trying to add a known Turkish coffee brand in an existing listing that also has some sellers.
I'm in Turkey and bought product directly from legal distributor that was introduced me by manufacturer. I have contacted both distributor and manufacturer with regards to transparency code and it seems that they do not provide such code at all. each product contains a unique barcode, through scanning the barcode you are given a link that directs you to the page of the product in the original manufacturer website. I have provided that code to Amazon but they didn't accept. I have the permission to sell and can prove my correspondence to both manufacturer and distributor. In fact, I think maybe other sellers are even using their own made transparency codes to prevent others from entering listing while the brand owner is not even aware of it. I have sent this to Amazon but they even didn't response.
NOW MY BIG ISSUES:
1. How can I provide transparency code if the brand owner doesn't provide it? Can I register for transparency program and receive codes and print it to the products that are not mine?
2. While the manufacturer is not providing transparency code, how other sellers were able to put it on the products? Isn't what they do illegal?
I have bought products and I'm waiting approval to be able to send and sell them. Would be great if you help me by this issue , as it is garment and food category and each day I will be close to the expiration date and might loose all inventory.

The transparency program is known as "mass serialization".
What this means is that the brand itself has elected this program. The brand is aware of these codes.
These codes are always unique. No two codes are the same.
Under the program, brands are required to label all of their units with transparency codes. But sometimes they just do not do that and keep the codes for themselves and any other authorized seller for Amazon. The legal distributor you have purchased from may not have been given these codes from the brand.
Whenever the brand manufactures more coffee, they need to order more unique codes to put on their coffee products.
I would suggest reaching out to the brand directly instead of buying from the legal distributor. The brand knows about the codes.
Answers to your questions below.
1. How can I provide transparency code if the brand owner doesn't provide it? Can I register for transparency program and receive codes and print it to the products that are not mine?
You cannot provide the transparency code if the brand does not provide it. You cannot register for the transparency program. You need a registered trademark to use the transparency program.
2. While the manufacturer is not providing transparency code, how other sellers were able to put it on the products? Isn't what they do illegal?
There are two possibilities.
1. The brand has not always been on the transparency program and had other sellers sell their coffee for a while. Its possible the brand has, recently, enrolled and the other sellers are allowed to sell out the rest of their items. The other sellers are not allowed to replenish items without a transparency code.
2. The other sellers have obtained these codes by speaking to the brand directly.
The transparency program is used by many brands to control their sellers on Amazon. Unfortunately, I do not see any other way to resolve your issue other than reaching out to this brand directly.
