Amazon search engine changes search words
I am landscape photographer who is struggling to find many of my own products on the amazon.co.uk website because the Amazon search engine changes the search terms I enter to something different and searches for that instead.
For example if I search for photographs of Trevose Lighthouse, or anything with the name Trevose in it as soon as I start the search the word Trevose changes to trevor and the search engine appears to look for images that include the word trevor instead so doesn't find my listings. I've tried using terms like trevor, and trevor lighthouse in the keywords box but that doesn't bring my products up either, and I've tried adding words like photograph to the search which does bring up some of my lighthouse images at random but not of Trevose because the Amazon search engine again changes the word Trevose in trevor when I enter the search terms Trevose Lighthouse Photograph etc.
Any help would be appreciated. The only way I've found around this so far is by punting inverted commas on either size of my search terms but obviously potential customers aren't likely to do that, so aren't going to find my images.

This does seem very limiting, so I hope you can find some sort of solution. Have you contacted Seller Support?
It may be a matter of them just entering that brand name into a list of acceptable (not to be autocorrected) words on their side. I'm not sure if such a solution exists but it's worth opening the case and keep pushing it (ie don't take no for an answer).

I find that happens quite often. As a bookseller you can put in a word and then they bring up a similar word, which is WRONG - more than frustrating especially for buyers. Makes you wonder why they even bother with us using search terms. The Amazon search engine is very poor anyway - they return what they THINK you are looking for !!
I seriously doubt seller support can or will do anything - it will be an IT issue.

I just searched and got this:
Showing results for trevor lighthouse, and underneath a link that says "Search instead for Trevose Lighthouse"
So I clicked on the second link and this came up "A5 Greetings Card featuring a photograph of Trevose Head Lighthouse in Cornwall by Andrew Ray."
So your items can be found.
You aren't on your own, I have had it happen with lots of search terms when I'm shopping on Amazon. I just hope people have the brains to click on the link that shows their search terms

same as above, the search engine is simply assuming you meant Trevor but there is a link to search Trevose.
Google is smarter and at least includes results for trevose.
Sadly only people who can change their system are the obese least likely to do so…Amazon.
can you still add search terms in the manage inventory? You might be able to include Trevor lighthouse as a search term there.

I am not too sure if it is allowed or not but you might want to put "trevor lighthouse" into seo keywords. It should help.

yes, I have had this happen before and SS will explain exactly what the other posters have said. This only happens if there is a new listing with very little demand so it makes little sense for them to do differently. If you want to fix this you need people off Amazon to search enough for you. It means your branding off Amazon is too weak and if you fix this it will fix your problem.

There are so many things wrong with Amazon search it is almost impossible to list them all.
As a bookseller / book buyer one of the most frustrating things is advanced booksearch. It is utterly useless.
The equivalent advanced search on Abe books (which is owned by Amazon) works pretty much perfectly.
You can specify title/author/publisher/binding/edition &c and it almost always gives relevant results.
Do the same search on Amazon (where there are often a lot more potential matches) and you generally get nothing, nada, zilch.
The advanced search on Amazon seems incapable of filtering by date or publisher or just about anything else. :(
How can it be so bad, given Amazon's dominance in the field?
