amazon approved return UPS label for $18
I sold an item to a customer a few weeks back. Customer started a return today stating they thought they purchased something totally different. The total cost of the item was $19.80 ($11.88 for the merchandise, $7.29 for postage and $0.63 for tax). Customer did not contact me for return, instead contacted amazon directly. They were given, so far, an immediate refund of $1.54. However, they chose to send it back to me via UPS, and according to the amazon Rep i just spoke to, the cost for this ups return label is $18.41. The amazon rep told me she has no idea for the $18.41 cost of this return label, but it is my responsibility and it has been deducted from my amazon funds. This is very disturbing to me; i am wondering what happened here. the merchandise weighs all of 8 oz and should cost about $6 to return. Anyone have any info? thanks.

Thanks to some Amazon updates last year, the buyer can now return a tic-tac in a refrigerator box and you have to pay for it.
You do not pay for taxes, it is collected from the buyer and withheld
An item that sells for 19.80 but costs $7.30 to ship, not including packing supplies, ink, labels......makes no sense to sell, certainly not on Amazon with the extreme fees.
$19.80
- 2.97 fee
-7.29 postage
-$1 packaging, gas, office supplies, ink, labels, monthly seller fee.....
-$1 allowance set aside for returns, lost postage, INR's.....
That leaves you $7.54 net profit BEFORE you purchased the product......
(All this doesn't include optional expenses for other supplies and services you pay for to sell...)
